Our Story
Thank you for taking the time to stop and read about all that God is doing through our family. We are David and Miley Phillips. We’ve been married since 2013, and have 2 beautiful children Milo and Harlow.
In 2014, we found ourselves in our first year of marriage following the same trajectory that our broken families had before us. In that same year, the Lord met each of us where we were and began to radically transform us individually and together. We knew as we turned our focus from worldly pursuits and pursued Jesus that everything else would work itself out. God’s grace and kindness continues to show in every way throughout our marriage, and we are passionate about helping others grow in their relationship with God to heal marriages and end the cycle of broken families.
We have been in full-time ministry since 2016, where we were called to work together for a wonderful local church that stretched us and allowed us to grow in our God-given gifts. Our deep love for both seeking the lost for Christ and relational discipling grew during our time there. Then, in 2020, the Lord placed the calling to plant a church in our hearts. Our immediate instinct was to run away; instead, we began praying for God's wisdom and timing.
Fast forward to February 2023, the Lord said, “Start!" and that is where we find ourselves now. Many have asked, "Why Houston?" Our response is always the same, "The Lord told us to!" Until now, we have never been to Texas nor have we ever had a desire to go, but there is a supernatural peace that we had about the city. So in July of 2023, with the help of our amazing community in Indiana, we packed our truck and trailer and moved to Katy, Texas just west of Houston.
Through this process Honor House was born. Honor can be misused so often. However, imagine a world where we truly and authentically honored God, honored His Word, and equipped His people. We believe that is what God is calling us to do, to shift a generation, who has distorted the culture of honor or disregarded it altogether, back to its origin.

The Vision
“Only one thing concerns me: Be sure that you live in a way that brings honor to the Good News of Christ. Then whether I come and visit you or am away from you, I will hear that you are standing strong with one purpose, that you work together as one for the faith of the Good News.” Philippians 1:27 NCV
As a church we are called to unity. The Holy Spirit can do magnificent things through a unified body. As we honor God and His Word, we can equip His people and work together as one to advance the Gospel of Christ. Church goes beyond Sunday morning. We want to see a city desperate for the presence of God and passionate about equipping others and bringing them into His presence daily.
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” Ephesians 4:11-12 NIV
We cannot fully honor God without equipping His people to strengthen and build the body of Christ. By partnering with us, you are partnering with this vision.
Prayer Focus
As we develop this blueprint for house churches, we would love for you to join us into 3 areas specifically.
1. Kids Ministry - the Lord has shown us that he did not create an age division in His church, we did that. While there is great value in specific age appropriate teaching, there could be an even greater value in discipling the whole family together and learning from one another. If done properly, the parents will be discipled to read the word daily, spontaneously worship, and persistently pray. Our children will imitate what they see. With that said, during service we will be welcoming all children to join adult service. However, there will be an age appropriate Bible lesson and activities in another space during the scripture reading if needed. Please pray that we would be able to balance the tension of excellence with the fluidity of family ministry during our gatherings.
2. Breaking religious spirit - we received a prophetic word that said we would breakthrough religious denominations. In just a short amount of time, we have been able to see just that. People come from all different walks of life and allow their past experiences with religion taint their current experience with God. Please help us bind and break the spirit of religion in Jesus’ name. Please pray for God’s voice to be louder than traditional values.
3. A familial culture - Houston is a large migrant state. Many people have left family and transplanted here from all over the country. Help us to create authentic relationships that know how to communicate, love and serve one another, and be honoring towards God and each other.
Thank you in advance for partnering with us as we seek to impact God's Kingdom. We’re grateful for your love, prayers, and support!
